Unitaid will be a strong presence at this year’s World Health Assembly, leading events and participating in discussions related to our central mission: harnessing innovation to transform the global health landscape.
We will present our latest investments in advanced HIV disease, which are designed to significantly cut deaths by taking on cervical cancer, tuberculosis, cryptococcal meningitis and pneumonia, the leading killers of people living with HIV. Stopping HIV deaths is a prerequisite for ending the epidemic.
Malaria, innovative diagnostics and R&D will all be on our agenda as well.
On Thursday evening, 23 May, Unitaid, along with co-organizers WHO and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, will host the season premiere of MTV Shuga Down South II at the Palais de Nations, with live appearances by actors from the hit TV drama series. Followed by millions of young people in Africa and beyond, the show weaves information about HIV into its storylines to raise awareness about self-testing, preventive therapy (PrEP) and sexual health.
