Unitaid will participate in the 23rd International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA 2025), taking place from 2-8 December 2025 in Accra, Ghana. The conference provides a critical platform to advance dialogue on accelerating access, innovation, and equity in the HIV response across the continent.
At ICASA 2025, Unitaid will join governments, communities, researchers, and partners to showcase how innovative health products and collaborative delivery models are transforming HIV prevention and care. Through high-level sessions, satellite events and an interactive booth, Unitaid will highlight progress in long-acting prevention, equitable access strategies and community-driven implementation. Together with its partners, Unitaid will emphasize how innovation and partnership can turn scientific breakthroughs into measurable prevention and treatment impact across Africa.
At ICASA 2025, our shared booth will be a hub for engaging with communities and civil society partners. We are excited to be working with INPUD (International Network for People who Use Drugs), EVA, Frontline AIDS, AVAC Partnership, APHA (Advocates for the Prevention of HIV in Africa), Diagnostics Equity Consortium, Wits RHI, PATH, AfroCAB and Y+ Global (Global Network of Young People Living with HIV) for these events.
The 7th Biomedical HIV Prevention Forum (BHPF), themed “Advancing Biomedical HIV Prevention as a National Priority Through Choice”, will convene policymakers, researchers, advocates, youth, and community representatives to discuss progress and gaps in HIV prevention. Unitaid will deliver a 30-minute presentation on the Access Plan for Long-Acting Prevention Methods, emphasizing how innovative partnerships and product development are accelerating access to diverse prevention options. The session will also include a marketplace on available biomedical options and a youth-led leadership panel calling for stronger African-led advocacy toward 2030. Unitaid will contribute to this Medicines Patent Pool session, which focuses on the future of long-acting HIV treatments. The discussion will explore how licensing and technology transfer can expand access to next-generation prevention and treatment tools across low- and middle-income countries.
This Unitaid-led satellite will explore how product innovation translates into real-world prevention impact. Discussions will center on long-acting PrEP, user-centered design, and community-driven rollout. The session will feature insights from partners implementing innovative PrEP delivery models to reach adolescent girls, young women, and key populations.
This session will bring together civil society, implementers, and partners to discuss how inclusive partnerships drive equitable access to health innovation. The conversation will highlight Unitaid’s collaboration with community-led networks to ensure that innovation reaches those most in need.
A cross-sector dialogue on integrating mpox screening within maternal and child health programs. The discussion will explore how health systems integration can strengthen both HIV and emerging disease responses.
This Aurum-led session will share insights from the IMPAACT4HIV Project on optimizing service delivery for advanced HIV disease. Partners will discuss how responsive, data-informed models are improving care outcomes in high-burden settings.
