20 years. 150+ innovations. Millions of lives changed.

This year, Unitaid marks 20 years of accelerating access to health innovations that save lives, strengthen health systems and expand quality care.

Since 2006, working with countries, communities, researchers, industry and global health partners, Unitaid has helped introduce more than 150 innovations – from child-friendly HIV medicines and shorter TB prevention treatments to next-generation mosquito nets and tools that help save mothers’ lives.

At a time when health financing is under pressure and countries are taking greater leadership of their health responses, innovation remains an essential part of the solution – not only because it saves lives, but because it can help health systems work better by reducing complexity, lowering costs, simplifying delivery and expanding access to quality care.

Innovation is not only about new products. It is also about smarter implementation – finding better ways to deliver care, support frontline health workers and design services around people’s needs.

As we mark this milestone, we celebrate the partnerships, progress and people who have made it possible. Because innovation alone is not enough—access is what changes lives.
