79th World Health Assembly

Geneva

The 79th World Health Assembly (WHA) is the annual decision-making forum of the World Health Organization (WHO), bringing together health ministers, senior government officials, and global health partners from across all Member States. It provides a key platform to set global health priorities, adopt resolutions, and advance coordinated action on pressing health challenges.

At WHA 2026, taking place at a time of evolving global health priorities and constrained financing, Unitaid and its partners will engage with Member States and stakeholders to advance access to innovative, high-impact health products and strategies that strengthen equity and health systems. As one of the flagship moments marking Unitaid’s 20th anniversary, the Assembly will also provide an opportunity to reflect on two decades of work to ensure that lifesaving innovations reach the people who need them most.

Through strategic discussions and side events, Unitaid-supported initiatives will share progress in areas such as HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and maternal and newborn health, highlighting approaches that accelerate the introduction and scale-up of innovations, improve affordability, and strengthen sustainable markets for essential health commodities, particularly in settings where access barriers persist.
