The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Annual Review has reaffirmed Unitaid’s leadership in global health innovation and market-shaping, with its third A+ rating. This recognition highlights Unitaid’s exceptional performance in accelerating access to lifesaving health solutions, expanding partnerships, and pioneering new areas of impact.

“Unitaid continues to demonstrate its vital role in shaping the global health landscape and delivering impact where it is needed most,” said Marisol Touraine, Chair of the Unitaid Executive Board. “This A+ rating is a reflection of our commitment to ensuring equitable access to health innovations, forging strong partnerships, and driving forward solutions that save lives and strengthen health systems worldwide.”

According to the review, this top-tier rating reflects Unitaid’s ability to exceed expectations in key areas, including:

  • Expanding access to lifesaving health products: Unitaid-supported innovations now reach 300 million people annually, a significant increase from previous years.
  • Delivering strong value for money: Every US$1 invested in Unitaid generates US$46 in intrinsic health benefits, maximizing the impact of global health investments.
  • Pioneering new areas of impact: The review highlights Unitaid’s progress in climate-smart health products, regional pharmaceutical manufacturing, and medical oxygen access, ensuring greater resilience in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Strengthening global partnerships: Unitaid continues to drive collaboration with key global health actors, including The Global Fund, WHO, Gavi, and low- and middle-income country partners, to expand equitable access to lifesaving innovations.

FCDO’s A+ rating is a testament to Unitaid’s commitment to tackling some of the world’s most pressing health challenges. Despite global funding constraints, Unitaid remains a driving force in increasing access to affordable health innovation, and ensuring that lifesaving tools reach those who need them most.
