Unitaid aims to identify manufacturers of caffeine citrate, an essential treatment used to manage apnea of prematurity, a common condition affecting premature babies in they experience breathing pauses because they have not yet fully developed respiratory control. Despite its proven clinical benefits, caffeine citrate remains inconsistently available in many low- and middle-income countries.
As part of an exploration of opportunities to accelerate access to vital products for small and sick newborns, Unitaid seeks to connect with caffeine citrate manufacturers that are serving, or interested in serving, low- and middle-income country markets and are open to further engagement.
This first-stage exercise aims to map the global supplier landscape and identify existing and pipeline products. Selected respondents may subsequently be invited to participate in a more detailed second-stage assessment of product, regulatory, supply and market-access considerations, and potential opportunities to expand sustainable access to quality-assured caffeine citrate in low- and middle-income countries.
Manufacturers currently marketing, supplying, developing, or planning to develop oral or injectable caffeine citrate products are invited to respond by completing this form.
