Unitaid welcomes the appointment of Mark Dybul as Global Fund Executive Director

Unitaid congratulates Dr. Mark Dybul on his appointment as the next Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

“Dr. Dybul is a formidable leader who has helped shape the modern global health response,” said Dr. Philippe Duneton, Executive Director of Unitaid. “His experience and vision will be critical as we seek to preserve what works while adapting to new challenges and priorities. Unitaid looks forward to working closely with Dr. Dybul and the Global Fund to build sustainable systems that translate scientific advances and innovation into tangible improvements in people’s lives.”

Unitaid and the Global Fund share a longstanding partnership built on complementary missions: Unitaid helps bring promising new tools to market, making them more affordable and accessible, while the Global Fund supports countries to take these innovations to scale.

Over the past two decades, this partnership has helped transform access to essential health tools, including more effective HIV treatments, shorter TB preventive therapies and next-generation mosquito nets. More recently, the two organizations have worked closely together and with other partners to accelerate access to long-acting HIV preventive therapies including the revolutionary twice-yearly injectable lenacapavir.

As global health financing comes under increasing pressure, the relationship between innovation and scale is more important than ever. By working together, Unitaid and the Global Fund can help countries achieve greater impact with available resources, strengthen health systems and ensure that scientific advances translate into better health outcomes for all people who need them.

Unitaid looks forward to continuing this close collaboration under Dr. Dybul’s leadership, building on our shared progress to expand equitable access to lifesaving innovations.
