Unitaid invests to cut HIV-related deaths

Although enormous progress has been made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, one million people still die every year from preventable infections related to HIV.

Unitaid’s latest investments in advanced HIV disease are designed to significantly cut deaths by taking on the leading killers of people living with HIV, such as cervical cancer, tuberculosis, cryptococcal meningitis and pneumonia.

Stopping HIV deaths is a prerequisite for ending the epidemic.

Our strategy is to work with partners to widen access to WHO-recommended drugs and tests, creating a better model for managing advanced HIV disease in low- and middle-income countries.
