Ambassador Anne Claire Amprou appointed new Chair of Unitaid’s Executive Board

Unitaid is pleased to announce the election of Anne-Claire Amprou, French Ambassador for Global Health, as the new Chair of its Executive Board. She will take over leadership following Marisol Touraine’s term of office at the end of 48th Executive Board session in December 2025.

A recognized leader in global health and international cooperation, Ms. Amprou brings to this role over twenty years of experience in diplomacy, health policy, and multilateral governance. Her election reflects our member states’ strong commitment to advancing innovation and equitable access to health solutions worldwide.

As France’s negotiator for the international agreement on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response from 2022 to 2024, she went on to co-chair the negotiations at the World Health Organization, culminating in the adoption of the landmark pandemic agreement at the 2025 World Health Assembly. Her leadership in this complex and historic process demonstrated her capacity to build consensus and advance an ambitious, coordinated response to global health emergencies.

“The global health landscape is evolving in unprecedented ways, calling for renewed collaboration,” said Ms. Amprou. “Unitaid has a critical role to play in delivering the global health impact of the future. I am honored to support this mission to ensure that the most promising health products reach all places they are needed, and support countries to implement equitable, sustainable solutions for health.”

Ambassador Amprou represents France in several key global health initiatives, including the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Pandemic Fund, providing her with a cross-cutting view of the global health ecosystem and the priority challenges ahead.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Amprou served as Deputy Director General for Health at the French Ministry of Solidarity and Health. She has also led Universcience, France’s leading cultural and scientific public institution, and worked at the Inspectorate-General of Social Affairs.

“Leading Unitaid’s Executive Board has been a profound honor,” said Marisol Touraine, outgoing Executive Board Chair. “Championing innovation and ensuring that Unitaid can sustain, strengthen and develop its impact and catalytic role in delivering game-changing solutions to the poorest has been a thrilling journey. I am confident that Ambassador Amprou’s deep expertise and dedicated commitment to global health will guide Unitaid into its next chapter with strength and vision.”

“Anne-Claire’s outstanding leadership in the Pandemic Agreement negotiations and her deep understanding of the global health landscape make her an exceptional choice to guide Unitaid’s Board,” said Dr. Philippe Duneton, Executive Director of Unitaid. “Her vision and commitment to collaboration will help strengthen our collective response to global health challenges and ensure that innovation continues to reach those most in need.”
